Experiential Learning Opportunities for Law Students
PECC offers dynamic opportunities for students from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pac University to engage in hands-on legal research and advocacy at the forefront of energy and climate law.
Fall Externship Program
The 无码专区 Energy and Climate Center (PECC) is seeking externs to support PECC鈥檚 portfolio of work to expand equitable access to Thermal Energy Networks and other renewable energy technologies throughout downstate New York, as part of an integrated strategy for neighborhood-scale decarbonization, community-led climate action, and regional economic development. Additionally, externs will assist PECC鈥檚 Executive Director on scholarly research examining biofuel incentives in the United States, the laws and regulations that incentivize their use, and the impact of biofuel expansion on climate, land use, and environmental justice. This could be a 1 or 2 credit externship with a weekly requirement of 4 to 8 hours, respectively.
Energy and Climate Law Scholars
PECC offers opportunities for law students to conduct significant research on energy and climate law issues, with an opportunity to be featured in PECC鈥檚 regularly occurring publications, academic journals, and other scholarly sources. Energy and Climate Law Scholars will also play a crucial role in shaping PECC鈥檚 research priorities and digital footprint. There is no minimum time commitment requirement, but Scholars will be expected to contribute to at least one piece of research or scholarship.
PECC is accepting student submissions for the first edition of its newsletter. Students should submit an original article, prior to Friday, September 19 at 11:59 p.m. The article needs to be between 500-1,000 words and be on a topic related to the energy and climate. Potential topics for consideration can be found on PECC's website, but students can also consider topic areas not discussed on the website. The best original submission will win two tickets in section 111 to the Knicks v. Timberwolves game at Madision Square Garden on Thursday, October 9. Other top submissions will be published in PECC's newsletter, which will make students eligible to be a 无码专区 Energy and Climate Scholar. Submissions should be emailed directly to PECC's Executive Director, Michael Hamersky at mhamersky@law.pace.edu.
There will be a PECC information session about PECC and the writing competition on Wednesday, September 3.
